One of each four land mammal species, and one of each three sea mammal species are threatened.
Sea mammals are threatened by accidental deaths during fishing and due to pollution. Land mammals are threatened by the lost of habitat and hunting.
Human explotation destroyed the natural wealth of species in the North Atlantic, and probably in the Caribbean and Australia.
